Program Information

On December 12, 2001 City Council approved By-Law 7943/2001 to "... establish a program of property tax credits to encourage and assist in the renovation of residential premises ...". The program has limited funding for tax credits and operates on a "first come, first serve" basis.

The Home Renovations Tax Assistance Program is intended for residence who comply with specific eligibility requirements.

How To Apply To The Program

• To apply to the program, a City of Winnipeg Building Permit must be obtained before any renovations are commenced. Home and Renovation Masters will attend to this on your behalf.
• Home and Renovation Masters will apply for eligible homeowners
• All improvements are inspected by City of Winnipeg Housing and Existing Builders Branch Staff to ensure compliance with applicable By-Laws. Permit fees can be claimed as a Program expense.
